living proof

it's been a crazy month so far, and destined to become only more frenetic.

still, i must pause to note some synchronicities.

i'm working on a review of the new cat power album, a collection of covers called jukebox, for the l.a. times. and i am also writing a citybeat column on teen pregnancy, inspired by the cultural phenomenon that is the movie juno.

so, cat power (a.k.a. singer-songwriter chan marshall) previously recorded a collection of other people's songs (the covers record) in 2000. included on it is a version of "sea of love." which you can hear in juno.

jukebox comes out january 22. that's also the date of the next l.a. installment of "the radio8ball show," whose creator, andras jones, has inspired me to always be aware of these types of seemingly random convergences. b/c who knows what they might mean?

Apropos of nothing specific in your blog, I just wanted to mention that I had a great time meeting with you in Dec. Hope all is well on your end. Enjoy that California sun! It's 30 degrees here.
