aging well

my sister sent out a bulletin today that one of my cousins won a songwriting contest, for people over 55 to write a tune that "conveys the joys of aging."

priscilla (that's her up there, in a photo from the erie times-news by greg wohlford) is one of my many older cousins who i don't know well. when i was a kid, there seemed to be hordes of them -- that's the baby boom for ya -- who were all off doing interesting things and being adults when i still had to be home before dark. anyway, she's a nurse at the soldiers & sailors home. and she's also been a singer-songwriter for a long time (i think she and hubby rex perform at festivals and such). her "aging well" caught the judges' attention b/c she made a video to go with it. the song is very folky in a sincere, pure-folk kind of way, and it's very simple and sweet -- so it's kind of even more great that she got her mtv on too. (i'm also amused by the existence of something called "erietube.")

anyway, you go, pris!
